The Finnish company bike service provider Gobybike Finland Oy and Oomi Oy have agreed on a business acquisition, transferring the Oomi Bike company bike service to Gobybike Finland. Oomi Bike has been one of Finland’s leading providers of corporate bicycle services to companies and organizations.
Following the completion of the transaction, GoByBike will be responsible for customer service and the management of company bicycles for the Oomi Fillari service. The business acquisition strengthens GoByBike’s position as the largest company bicycle service in Finland and, by extension, the Nordic region. Following the completion of the transaction, GoByBike will manage a portfolio of nearly 40,000 company bicycles for over 4,000 employers, who together employ more than 350,000 people.
“We are delighted to welcome Oomi Bike’s current customers and cyclists to GoByBike. This acquisition reflects our commitment to promoting sustainable mobility and well-being. “With this growth, we can enable a healthier, more affordable, and more enjoyable daily life for an increasing number of employees,” says Tommi Ylönen, CEO of Gobybike Finland.
‒ In line with our new growth strategy, we will continue to focus on areas where we can create the most value for our customers. We are strengthening our position as an energy services provider and seeking growth in new business areas, such as mobile phone subscriptions. Through this business transaction, we are ensuring that our resources will be allocated to operations where we see the best growth opportunities for us. We are confident that our Oomi Bike customers will continue to receive a great home and high-quality company bike services from GoByBike, says Oomi CEO Tuomas Oksanen.
The lease agreements for employees who acquired their company bikes through the Oomi Bike service will remain unchanged, and the transaction will not affect the taxation of company bikes. Oomi and GoByBike have agreed not to disclose the purchase price or the exact number of customers.
Company bicycles promote employee well-being
Company bicycles have been popular in Finland, and there were approximately 100,000 company bicycle users in Finland at the end of 2025. For employers, company bicycles have proven to be an effective way to increase physical activity among working-age employees and reduce the costs of sick leave. According to a study by the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, people who actively commute have about 5.5 fewer sick days per year than those who commute passively.
‒ A reduction of just half a day in sick leave covers the cost of the benefit. Savings accumulate because over 75% of working-age people who have acquired a company bike have increased their weekly physical activity by 2 hours or more. The average increase in physical activity has been roughly the same as the UKK Institute’s weekly exercise recommendation for working-age people, notes Ylönen.
GoByBike works closely with the Finnish bicycle manufacturer Helkama. Popular Helkama e-bikes are available as company bikes starting at just a 40-euro monthly fee, with no large upfront investment. The financial benefit for the employee can amount to over 500 euros.
